Embarcadero

Journey to a vacation paradise as you listen to the Latin, Jazz, Calypso and World sounds of our new release Embarcadero. This album debuts five originals by members of the quartet. Peter & William collaborated on the title track Embarcadero which is truly a journey, a saga you might say or an epic film theme. The piece begins with a reflective Spanish guitar introduction taken from a well known guitar & flute composition titled Entre Act by Jacques Ibert and transitions into an upbeat voyage. Other originals include Jeff Basile’s Charangon which is a word we invented in the studio. It is a combination of charango, a South American instrument that looks like a miniature guitar and cajon (the box) a Latin percussion instrument both of which are featured on this track. Another Basile original Nocturno is a smooth sounding cross pollination of Carlos Santana and Antonio Carlos Jobim (famous Brazilian composer of Bossa Nova music). William Wilson chimed in with an enchanting ballad titled Ballad of Trinidad. Finally, Peter Pupping composed an evocative Pasa Doble (a type of Bolero) titled Old Town.

Besides the five originals the quartet covered Carlos Santana’s El Farol from his 2000 Grammy album Supernatural, a jazzy rendition of Jose Feliciano’s Affirmation, Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim’s One Note Samba and Felicidade, a very famous Spanish love song Besame Mucho, a variety of traditional Latin songs from many parts of the world and the well known calypso tune Sloop John B performed originally by the likes of Harry Belafonte, The Beach Boys, The Kingston Trio and many other world renowned performers. Track 13 features a stunning performance on lead guitar by William Wilson of a newly arranged version of the second movement of the Concierto de Aranjuez by the world renowned Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo.

Samba Nights features a collection of great hits from Samba, Nuevo Flamenco, Bossa Nova and Jazz styles performed by the Peter Pupping Quartet.
